Terms and Conditions

Necessary to ensure smooth operation and execution of the Joy of Life Club for you, our loyal members. You will find all the fine print regarding the club on this page.

  • Membership in the Joy of Life Club is free and is available to individuals residing in countries that legally permit participation in frequent guest programs. Your participation in the Joy of Life Club indicates your acceptance of these terms and conditions as well as any changes or modifications made to them.
  • No purchase is necessary for Joy of Life Club membership.
  • Must be 18 years or older to participate.
  • Personal Profile is completed at www.joyoflifeclub.com, and registers you for membership that allows Joie de Vivre Hotels to service you according to your specific requests. Changes can be made to your password-protected profile online or by contacting the Joy of Life Club by email or phone at (877) 568-2733 within the U.S. or (415) 773-1060 outside the U.S.
  • Personal Preference: Whenever possible, personal preferences as indicated in the member's online profile will be met, based on availability.
  • Welcome Indulgence: Whenever possible, members are greeted with a welcome indulgence during their stay. Joie de Vivre Hotels retains the right to change or discontinue offering a welcome indulgence at any time.
  • Neither accounts nor program points may be shared or combined. Corporations, groups or associations cannot enroll.
  • Only the member paying for the bill may accumulate points.
  • A member whose individual hotel bill is billed directly to a company and the member is responsible for authorization for settlement at checkout is eligible for points. However, group master-billing arrangements where charges for multiple rooms are placed on one hotel bill to a company or common address or settled at checkout by one individual are not eligible.
  • Members may receive points for a maximum of three (3) rooms per qualifying stay, if all eligible charges for all 3 rooms appear on the member's folio and the member has occupied one of those rooms.
  • Members may receive points for a maximum of three (3) individuals per visit at spas, if all eligible charges for all three individuals appear on the member's folio and the member has received one of those services.
  • Eligible charges for which points will be rewarded and rewards redeemed may vary on a property-by-property basis.
  • Rewards are not replaceable if lost, stolen or otherwise destroyed. Joie de Vivre Hospitality and their program partners are not responsible for rewards lost in the mail.
  • Hotel stays and spa service reward certificates have a one-year expiration and cannot be redeemed for cash value. Expiration date or validity date of each reward will be printed on the reward certificate. Reward certificates cannot be redeemed for cash value.
  • All rewards are subject to availability.
  • Joie de Vivre Hotels is not responsible for points lost or redeemed due to fraudulent activity.
  • Points have no cash value and are non-transferable.
  • We cannot give credit (cash or points) for partially used reward certificates. You should only redeem points for amounts that cover the cost of your visit.
  • Points can only be accumulated and rewards redeemed at participating locations.
  • Points will be awarded for gift certificate/card purchases.
  • State laws prohibit accumulation of points from alcohol purchases.
  • Members cannot receive reward points for visits made prior to joining the program.
  • Failure to present Joy ID or Joy Pass at time of visit or reservation may delay or prevent point accumulation.
  • Joy points are not earned for no-show or reservations that are cancelled.
  • Other rates that do not earn Joy points are crew rates, employee rates, complimentary rates, Joy of Life Club reward certificate stays, and certain contracted rates.
  • Foreign and International travelers using vouchers for payment or traveling with a group are not eligible for points.
  • Amenities inclusive of all typical member benefits will not be issued and points cannot be earned or accrued for: complimentary or barter rooms, charges paid by wholesale tour operator packages or other voucher for certain discounted rates including, but not limited to, rates or stays booked via employee rates, third party or discounted websites, Expedia.com, Hotels.com, Hoteldiscount.com, Travelocity.com or similar booking channels where the hotel brand is unknown at time of purchase i.e., Priceline.com, Hotwire.com.
  • Members are responsible for notifying Joy of Life Club Member Services at (877) 568-2733 or on the website at www.joyoflifeclub.com if member information changes. Joie de Vivre Hotels, participating locations and program partners are not responsible for lost, delayed or undeliverable mail.
  • Suspected illegal, fraudulent or other unauthorized use of Joie de Vivre Hotels issued membership cards, vouchers, coupons and certificates or any other activity inconsistent with these Terms and Conditions shall result in termination of membership.
  • Points may or may not be awarded for special promotions.
  • Points cannot be redeemed until credited to the member's account. Participating locations may take different periods to notify Joie de Vivre Hotels of points to be credited. Joie de Vivre Hotels and their program partners are not responsible for failure, delay or error by a participating location in notification of points to be credited.
  • Any applicable tax liabilities resulting from points awarded under the program are the responsibility of the member.
  • The program shall be run in accordance with these Terms and Conditions at all times. In the event of an error administering the program which is contrary to these Terms and Conditions, Joie de Vivre Hotels reserves the right to enforce these Terms and Conditions.
  • Point accrual is limited to individual travel and the room must be paid for by the member at checkout. If Joy of Life Club member is attending a convention or group meeting and pays the hotel directly for the room, s/he will be eligible to receive credit for the stay.
  • If the room rate is direct billed, the charges are not eligible for point accrual.
  • A member’s Joy of Life Club membership account will expire and be deleted if there is there is no member stay activity at a Joie de Vivre Hotel for 5 years.  Expired accounts cannot be reinstated after expiration.  If expiration occurs, a former member must open a new member account if s/he wishes to earn points for current activity.
  • Joy Points will expire if no Joie de Vivre Hotels stay activity occurs by the member within 24 months.  Expired points will be removed from the member’s account and cannot be reinstated. 
  • Joy of Life Members cannot earn points on multiple member accounts.  If a member is determined to be maintaining multiple memberships or earning points on multiple accounts, Joie de Vivre may suspend and/or cancel additional accounts at its sole discretion.
  • It may take up to one week for points to be credited to the member’s available point balance.  If a member believes s/he has not received points for a participating hotel stay, a written request must be submitted to the Joy of Life Club Member Service Center at Joie de Vivre.  The written requests must be received within six months from the date of the missing stay.  For the Member’s protection, the Member should retain all guest folios for stays until points have been credited to the Joy of Life Club membership account. 
  • Joy of Life Club points can only be earned at Joie de Vivre hotels. Thompson Hotels are not currently eligible for earning joy points in the Joy of Life Club.
